Summary
Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) is used to actively monitor the health of the machines or components in order to optimize operating costs and determine maintenance needs. Typical maintenance strategies can each be costly in different ways, but CBM seeks to reduce operating costs and increase safety by optimizing the interval between maintenance and minimizing the system downtime. Moreover CBM continuously evaluates. We have new diagnostic techniques or improved solutions of existing ones. As a part of Industry 4.0 we talk also about big data, IoT, pattern based automatic diagnostics, AI and machine learning, etc. We have also new strategies of predictive or prescriptive maintenance.. But is all that enough to be really reliable?
Learning Takeaways:
1. The many factors that affect the reliability of a plant
2. Total Reliability
