In this podcast, we’ll discuss how to make the most of conferences. In most conferences there are far more presentations, and far more exhibitors than anyone can attend. We’ll offer some guidelines on selecting the presentations, getting the most from exhibits, and generally getting high value from your attendance.
For example, before the conference, make a list of the topics you are interested in, then get the program and match it to your interests, and look for user presentations – they’re more accurate – take notes, ask questions at the end, begin a “to-do” list, and even do a presentation on lessons learned on your return. As for exhibits, seek a consultation with the developer(s)/experts, after talking to sales front. Do lots of networking at breaks and over lunch with people you don’t know (yes, you should spend time with friends), and attend the keynotes, even if boring. These folks generally have a wealth of information to share.
