Welcome to Veterans Connected! In this episode, Eric interviews Veterans Connected first Marine Corps Veteran, Butler Fuqua. Growing up in a military family, Butler describes his journey coming from small-town Alabama to coincidentally winding up in the Marine Corps enrollment office to eventually guarding President Obama on Marine One. Listen to Bulter’s adventures in the service and his eye opening life changes that have led him to his current endeavor in Hawaii.
MORE ABOUT BUTLER…
I was born and raised in Alabama. I joined the Marines shortly after graduating high school where I served as a Military Police (MP) K-9 handler supporting the president’s Helicopter. I traveled the world and met a lot of great people including the President of the United States.
After the Marines, I bounced around with whatever job I could find. Once I was married, I knew that I needed to find a more solid career path, so I taught myself to code.
I became a Software Engineer and quickly leveled up my income. I can now provide for my family without needing to lean on help from the V.A. I was very timid growing up, but the Marines gave me a backbone and launched me into this life.
Today, I am in a place to pursue my dream of becoming a successful filmmaker and actor. I am planning to direct and star in my first feature film next year.
